The Long Song at Knockengorroch
A week long residency of music, sharing and learning
He Waiata Roa – The Long Song is the name of this Indigenous-led initiative — a cultural project rooted in the belief that song is not only a form of expression, but a vessel of survival, memory, and renewal. Across four Indigenous languages — Te Reo Māori, Cymraeg (Welsh), and Scottish (Gaelic and Scots) — the phrase The Long Song takes on nuanced cultural meaning. Over a week of conversation, performance, workshops and learning we came together on the banks of the Dee to create pathways for future music making, a space for ceremony in a secular world and to reimagine our relationships with each other, our culture and our land.
