Gwerinle: Folk Tent at TAFWYL

In 2024, Trac Cymru partnered up with TAFWYL, Cardiff’s Welsh Language Music festival, to create a brand new venue at the event for traditional arts called Gwerinle (gwerin - folk, lle - space). Here, we curated an exciting timetable of free taster workshops in Welsh folk singing, music and dance, lead by professional and emerging artists on the Welsh folk circuit. This space created access and opportunity for the public to experience Welsh cultural activities in the capital city, and became a platform for our folk genre to be heard loud and proud.

Artists Patrick Rimes (Vri, Calan), Angharad Jenkins (Calan, Angharad), Beth Celyn, Aneirin Jones (Vri), Mari Mathias and Rhys Morris & Mared Lloyd (AVANC), were some of the fantastic musicians recruited to deliver group activities, inspiring people of all ages walking through the festival arena. Gwerinle also welcomed Welsh ceilidh supergroup Twmpdaith for a performance-come-twmpath, showing Tafwyl audiences Welsh clog dancing and getting them up on their feet!
